The Village
Accessibility Statement
Last updated [CHECK: date of publication]
The Village wants this website, and the therapy room itself, to be usable by as many people as possible. This statement explains what has been done, what is known to fall short, and how to tell us if you hit a problem.
This website
The site has been built to meet the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines version 2.1 at level AA. In practice that means:
- text and background colours have been measured for contrast, and body text meets or exceeds the 4.5 to 1 ratio
- the page can be used with a keyboard alone, and a visible outline shows where you are
- a skip link lets you jump straight past the header to the content
- headings run in a logical order, so a screen reader can navigate by structure
- every photograph carries a written description
- text reflows without loss of content down to a 320 pixel screen width, and can be enlarged to 200 per cent
- animations are disabled automatically if your device is set to reduce motion
- the page is written in plain language and works without JavaScript
Known limitations
- Typefaces load from Google Fonts. If that service is slow or blocked, text falls back to a system font, which changes the appearance but not the content.
- The site has not yet been tested with a screen reader by a person who uses one daily. [CHECK: worth doing before you promote the site widely.]
- The BACP registration badge is an image supplied by BACP; its own contrast has not been altered, and the same information is repeated in text beside it.
The therapy room
The room is at The Wellness Hub, Unit 5, Old Stable House, at the rear of 53–55 North Cross Road, London SE22 9ET.
[CHECK: this section needs to describe the building honestly. Please confirm each point and correct anything that is wrong.]
- Step-free access: [CHECK: yes or no, and any steps or thresholds on the way in]
- Accessible toilet: [CHECK]
- Nearest step-free station and approximate walking distance: [CHECK]
- Parking, including any accessible bay: [CHECK]
- Hearing loop: [CHECK]
- Assistance dogs are welcome.
If any part of the building would make attending difficult, please say so when you call. Reasonable adjustments can often be made, and it is easier to arrange them before your first session than on the day.
Adjustments to the therapy itself
Sessions can be adapted. That might mean written summaries, a different pace, longer gaps between sessions, or working in Hindi rather than English. Ask on the introductory call.
Telling us about a problem
If you find something on this site you cannot use, or something about the building that makes access difficult, please email dcb@divyaberry.co.uk or call 07775 775913. You will get a reply within [CHECK: for example five working days], and we will tell you what can be changed and when.
This statement is reviewed at least once a year, and whenever the site changes materially.
